TORONTO, CANADA – 24th January 2023 – APG Media, a leading provider of virtual production solutions, is proud to announce its collaboration with the Saskatchewan Institute of Technology (SIIT) to supply, design, and build a cutting-edge LED Volume for their Virtual Production Studio in Saskatoon, SK, Canada. This initiative represents a significant advancement in virtual production education, empowering students with hands-on experience using the latest technologies.
As a leading technical college in Saskatchewan, SIIT is committed to providing students with practical, industry-relevant education. Recognizing the growing importance of virtual production in the film and media industries, SIIT partnered with APG Media to design a new LED Volume for use by their students.
The LED Volume comprises 70 tiles of 2.6mm HyperPixel LED panels, customized specifically for virtual production applications. These panels, powered by a Brompton SX40 processor, deliver exceptional visual quality and performance, enhancing the learning experience for students.
In addition, APG Media integrated a Mo-Sys Star Tracker solution for camera tracking, ensuring precise alignment between virtual elements and live-action footage. The client provided their own computers running Unreal Engine directly to the wall, enabling students to create and manipulate virtual environments in real-time.
